The “Upper Room” is the basketball gym located behind Woodbine Presbyterian Church, now known as Connection Pointe, was initially given to provide 6-7 men an overnight stay, providing them with a meal, shower, and safe place to rest apart from the elements and challenges of life on the streets. Since the flood in May of 2010, and the current economic climate, those numbers have swelled to as many as 70 a night seeking emergency lodging. At one point, we maxed out at over 90.

How you can help:

Cooking: Volunteer to cook the meal for a Wednesday night. We need help with cooking! Sign up for once a month or however often you can. We provide the ingredients, you make up the menu!

Overnight Stay Captains (Men Only), Oversee the safe night of rest and prompt raising of our guests in the morning. Breakfast at 5:30 am (usually cereal and coffee.)

Morning Drivers: We begin the transport of our guests back to downtown at approximately 6:15am. The drop off point, is Holy Trinity Church, at LaFayette and 6th, downtown.

Interaction among the guests is pointed and life changing. Any means of successfully communicating the gospel is encouraged. We have found that letting the love Christ has invested in us, simply shine in hearts, has born the most fruit.
